LIFE IS NOT A TO-DO LIST

5 tips to read a book a week
Billionaires do these 7 things every morning
3 ways to crack any interview
Check out these 9 ways to make money. Number 7 will blow your mind.
Did you know of these 5 ways to be happy?

Hand on heart - you will check out articles and videos with these titles. Won't you?
We all do.
You know why?
Because we love to believe there is a process.
We all love to believe that there is a path, a to-do guide that works for everyone and thus will work for us as well.

We all LOVE listicles.
Except, that life is not a listicle.

What's your favorite sport?
Mine is Tennis.
And my favorite player is Roger Federer.
(oh which reminds me. Last week's comment on SRK's acting threw the entire subscriber base off. People wrote in abusing me, congratulating me, applauding me. Even SRK wrote back, tears in his eyes, pretending to be all hurt. But then he is such a bad actor, I saw through it!
I am so evil! :)) )

Even if Roger were to describe, in the minutest details possible, all the things he did to get to where he is, and even if I were to replicate the exact same process, I guarantee you, I will not become him.

Because, most successful people frankly do not know why they are successful. They find it hard to explain their success. They want to say hard work and luck and all, but hand on heart, they cannot explain it just because of these factors.

But we don't know that.
We think success is known, it's defined, it's quantified and it's predictably achievable.
If only we did these 1/3/5/7/10 things that the world tells us everyone else did and it worked for them, it will work for us too.

It won't.

The right approach, instead, is to ask questions.
If they claim that all billionaires seem to do these 5 things every morning, WHAT ABOUT THESE 5 things might work for them?
Oh they meditate. Great.
Oh they read. Now I know something.
Oh they exercise. Or whatever else.

And then ask yourself, how could this help them? How does meditation, reading, exercising help?
And how can I, in my own way, in my own life, replicate the same positive impact?

That is when the list becomes powerful.
Because it is no longer a list, to be taken up blindly and implemented in your life.
It is a list to be understood, customized and then molded to suit who you are as a person.

There are no 5 ways to win in life.
There is just 1 way.
Know what works for you!

10 LIES I WAS TOLD ABOUT MONEY

I wrote this thread last Friday, about the lies we have been told about money.
You can check it out on Twitter or on LinkedIn.

Some samples:
Lie: Money is the root cause of all evil
Lie: Saving money is important
Lie: Buying a house is the ultimate financial goal

BOOK I AM READING THIS WEEK

I am currently reading
University of Berkshire Hathaway: 30 Years of Lessons Learned from Warren Buffett & Charlie Munger at the Annual Shareholders Meeting

It is a fascinating glimpse into what happens at the famous shareholder's meeting of Berkshire Hathaway - from the eyes of Daniel Pecaut, who has attended ALL of these meetings, for the past 30 years.

Must pick for everyone interested in finance! And in Warren Buffet!

QUOTES TO SHARE

Successful people are harsh on their mind and body. But not on themselves.

In 11+ years of hiring experience, the one thing I can say with confidence has a high correlation with success is curiosity.

Consider doing things that make YOU happy. Not things that make you jealous when you see others do.

If you are at peace with who you are and where you are in life, you cut out all the noise! While everyone still shouts, your peace silences all of them for you.

It is not money that makes people change their orbit. It is opportunities.

RESPONSES FROM LAST WEEK'S QUESTION

So last week I asked all of you a very interesting question

Which one would you choose and why?

  1. I am male and I have more male friends than female friends
  2. I am male and I have more female friends than male friends
  3. I am female and I have more male friends than female friends
  4. I am female and I have more female friends than male friends

Around 60% of the responses were from males and within that close to 70% said they have more male friends than female friends.
Of the 40% female responses, surprisingly, the number was almost 50:50 for male and female friends.

It was the reasons that were interesting though.

A lot of female responses for why they have more male friends, was because "men have less drama and jealousy"
A lot of male responses for why they have more male friends, was because "I am from engineering college. Duh!"

I wish there was a way for me to share all the responses. I had so much fun going through them.

For me, I am a male and I have more female friends than male friends.
I went to an all-boys school and saw all sides of boys. So I guess I had enough and was like - NO MORE BOYS :))
(such a poor explanation)

THIS WEEK'S POLL

For me, a sign of material success is:

  1. Having own house
  2. Going on frequent international vacations
  3. Having an expensive luxury car
  4. Wearing expensive clothes

Think only material success, not life success.

To participate, simply reply to this email with your choice and reason.
I read all my emails.
ALL my emails.

I had to ask! When I met my current wife, Ruchi, at the age of 19 while in college, she was way out of my league! I was the super geeky and serious kid.I had strong notions about what is right and wrong.I was too uptight.I would even call myself sad at that point.Too serious. And took myself too seriously. She, on the other hand, was the Shahrukh Khan in everybody’s life.Happy and going with the flow :))Forever smiling.Everyone adored her.Her happiness made everyone else happy around her. We...

If it's just hard work, why wouldn't you do it? Our colony had the Tennis Singles Finals this morning. I lost. While I feel slightly bad about it, I am happy about 2 things: 1/ I didn't play it safe. I played aggressively and took my chances. It's another thing that most chances did not work out :)) But I tried! 2/ I know exactly where I went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The distance between where I am and where I wish to be can be covered by hard work. You see, a lot of us are...

5 things I believed to be true when I was a kid; only to realize they are not! Money is finite. If one becomes rich, someone else becomes poor. I was convinced that there was only a limited amount of money in the world. And that the rich make money by taking it from someone else. Wealth is only distributed. Today, I know wealth can be created. By adding value. I shared an example of Maggi in my book, Make Epic Money. A pack of Maggi costs 10/20 rupees. But open it, cook it, add some veggies...
