A year from now

A YEAR FROM NOW

Not a single day goes by, where people write an email or send a message, with a question they are struggling with.
More often than not, these questions are around their present situation and how they are not happy with it.
Someone is tired of their job.
Someone hates their boss.
Someone feels they are in the wrong relationship.
Someone wants to startup but not sure if it's the right move.
Someone wants to move abroad, but isn't sure which country.
Someone questions if they should move out of their hometown or not.

They graciously seek my opinion on it.
But I am no one to offer that. I do not know. I cannot.
Instead, I ask them my favorite question, "What do you want to do?"

Most people reply with what they think they should do.
What they think should be the right answer.
No!
My question was - what do you WANT to do?
If everything was indeed possible, what would you WANT to do?

Once they come to that point, my next question is, "What is stopping you?"
This is when reality hits hard.
More often than not, it is our own mind.
We have convinced ourselves that we should not pursue what we want to do.
Because it is too risky, because people will laugh, because we might fail, because what will the world say, because we may not get a chance to recover.

But you know what?

A year from now, you will regret not having started today.

Time goes away and leaves us with only one of these two things: Results or regret.

Even failure is a result.
It tells us what we need to fix, what we need to improve, what we need to eliminate, what we need to work on.

A year from now, you can never be sure of the results, the way you want it.
But you can certainly be sure of regret, if you do not start today.

Make that move.
Every day you spend in this pain, you are not living. You are dying every day.

πŸ“• Book I'm reading this week

Still reading Letting Go, by Dr. David Hawkins.
Quite enjoying the book. It is not hard to read, very impactful and could be quite helpful to anyone who wishes to remove negativity from their life.
Highly recommended.

Any book you feel I should read next?

πŸ“Έ My week, in pictures

This is a new edition where I share my week in pictures, for those who do not like to read as much as I write :))

Last Thursday, CBSE announced its Class X and XII results. As I do always, I posted my Class 12th marksheet.
57 in English and a 2X bestselling author!
It is only much later we realize that our marks do not define our worth :)

On Friday, Ruchi and I went to a really interesting photography museum - called Museo Camera.
Lovely, if you are a photography enthusiast. Check it out if you are in Delhi NCR (it is in Gurgaon).

We then went to one of my favorite places - a bookstore :)
This is Bahrisons in Galleria Market, Gurgaon.

On Saturday, we went for Van Gogh 360 - it was a 360 visualization of Van Gogh's famous paintings. Van Gogh is considered to be one of the finest artists to have ever lived, and his works, especially The Starry Night are worth millions of dollars today.

On Sunday, we went for a heritage walk to the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, which was inaugurated in 2016. It is a lovely museum containing artifacts, paintings and gifts that were once a part of the main Rashtrapati Bhavan building. Must visit, if you are in Delhi.

Monday was shoot day - nothing remarkable :)

Tuesday, Uzma (our 5yr old daughter) had a story-telling session in her class. She read a folk-story from Bhutan called Khakey, which we had picked up earlier this year when we had gone there. Ruchi wore the traditional Bhutan costume Kira, for the occasion.

And here I am today (Wednesday) writing this newsletter from the airport, as I wait for my flight to Bangalore. Going there for a corporate talk.

Have a lovely weekend and week ahead, all of lovelies :)))

I had to ask! When I met my current wife, Ruchi, at the age of 19 while in college, she was way out of my league! I was the super geeky and serious kid.I had strong notions about what is right and wrong.I was too uptight.I would even call myself sad at that point.Too serious. And took myself too seriously. She, on the other hand, was the Shahrukh Khan in everybody’s life.Happy and going with the flow :))Forever smiling.Everyone adored her.Her happiness made everyone else happy around her. We...

If it's just hard work, why wouldn't you do it? Our colony had the Tennis Singles Finals this morning. I lost. While I feel slightly bad about it, I am happy about 2 things: 1/ I didn't play it safe. I played aggressively and took my chances. It's another thing that most chances did not work out :)) But I tried! 2/ I know exactly where I went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The distance between where I am and where I wish to be can be covered by hard work. You see, a lot of us are...

5 things I believed to be true when I was a kid; only to realize they are not! Money is finite. If one becomes rich, someone else becomes poor. I was convinced that there was only a limited amount of money in the world. And that the rich make money by taking it from someone else. Wealth is only distributed. Today, I know wealth can be created. By adding value. I shared an example of Maggi in my book, Make Epic Money. A pack of Maggi costs 10/20 rupees. But open it, cook it, add some veggies...
