WHAT BELIEFS ARE LIMITING YOU?

A man was visiting an elephant farm.
He got there, to see massive (almost wild) elephants, surprisingly not caged.
There was nothing holding them, except for a frail iron chain tied to one of their legs.
These tusked animals could clearly do whatever they wanted to do, should they wanted to.
So he was impressed that the weak iron chain tied to just one of their leg, was the thing controlling them.

To express his surprise, he went up to the owner.
"I must say your elephants are quite disciplined. Despite being so massive, evidently wild, you have been able to hold them together by just this iron chain and that too tied to just one of their legs. I mean, they could easily break that iron chain in their sleep, if they wanted to. How impressive!"

The owner smiled.
"Do you want to know how I did it?"
"Of course. How?"

When these elephants were born, I tied the same iron chain around one of their legs.
They tried to break the chain, but they were too small, incapable.
They tried for days, weeks, months, but to no avail.
So one day they stopped trying.
Convinced that they were not capable of breaking this chain.

I never had to change the chain, even when they grew up!

This, my friend, is your life!
It's our life.
The story of every single one of us.
While growing up, there were chains that were tied to us.
Not physical chains.
Instead, emotional and psychological chains.
"You cannot do this."
"This isn't worth it."
"Are you sure about this?"
"Look at them! Doing it so much better."
"Are you crazy?"
"Are you mad?"
"Are you out of your mind?"

We tried to resist, but these chains were strong back then.
They are not today.
But you stopped trying at some point.
And these chains while they might not exist or even if they do, are incapable of holding you back, still hold you back!
Your belief has come to limit you.
Your experience has come to define you.
Your story has come to convince you!

Will you continue to allow this chain to hold you back?
Or are you going to break it, knowing that you can?

BOOK I AM READING RIGHT NOW

Currently reading "As a man Thinketh" by James Allen.
This is a century old book, first published in 1903 and considered to be one of the best self-help books ever written.
It has a simple, yet powerful premise.
All one achieves or ceases to get is due to their thought process, as thoughts alone are most powerful.

Incredible start to the year!

My second book GET EPIC SHIT DONE has launched!
It is available in print, audio version (English, Hindi and 6 other regional languages), as an e-book and in offline stores as well.

Do not start this year by feeling 'this year is a make or break year for me.'
You can do without the pressure!

It is encouragement.

RESPONSES TO LAST WEEK'S QUESTION

Last week I asked you:

If you went to the casino, your friend gave you Rs. 50 and you won Rs. 1,00,000 from it. How much would you give your friend?

  1. Rs. 50,000
  2. Rs. 50
  3. Between Rs. 50 - Rs. 10,000
  4. Between Rs. 10,000 - Rs. 50,000
  5. Nothing

What a gorgeous survey! Look at the results!
1. The share of nothing reduces with age. This is because we get wiser and realize that our friend deserves something. Also, our ability to share becomes higher, because this amount is not that high as it was when we were young.
2. The share of Rs. 50,000 also increases with age, for the same reason.
For me, this is a great lesson.
When young, a lot of money might mean a huge difference in your life. Understandably so.
But do not let that EVER come in your way of relationships.
EVER!

My answer:
Rs. 50,000 - 100%
I got this because of that 50 from my friend!

I had to ask! When I met my current wife, Ruchi, at the age of 19 while in college, she was way out of my league! I was the super geeky and serious kid.I had strong notions about what is right and wrong.I was too uptight.I would even call myself sad at that point.Too serious. And took myself too seriously. She, on the other hand, was the Shahrukh Khan in everybody’s life.Happy and going with the flow :))Forever smiling.Everyone adored her.Her happiness made everyone else happy around her. We...

If it's just hard work, why wouldn't you do it? Our colony had the Tennis Singles Finals this morning. I lost. While I feel slightly bad about it, I am happy about 2 things: 1/ I didn't play it safe. I played aggressively and took my chances. It's another thing that most chances did not work out :)) But I tried! 2/ I know exactly where I went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The distance between where I am and where I wish to be can be covered by hard work. You see, a lot of us are...

5 things I believed to be true when I was a kid; only to realize they are not! Money is finite. If one becomes rich, someone else becomes poor. I was convinced that there was only a limited amount of money in the world. And that the rich make money by taking it from someone else. Wealth is only distributed. Today, I know wealth can be created. By adding value. I shared an example of Maggi in my book, Make Epic Money. A pack of Maggi costs 10/20 rupees. But open it, cook it, add some veggies...
