Are you married to you?

Are you married to you?

As you grow, you will change.
Your needs, your desires, your wants will change.
How you wish to get to them will change.
What you are willing to give up for them, will change.

And that's okay.

A beautiful life isn't one that remains the same.
A beautiful life is okay with the new.

I recently met my school friends, 25 years since graduating.
One of them recalled a trip we took together in 2006.
I was 26 back then.
I was sharing with him back then that all of my life's definition of success was pegged to one thing: "Owning a Honda CRV" :))
It sounds so unlike me, today.

In school, success was getting into the IIT.
In college, success was going to the US.
In MBA college, success was a consulting job.
At work, success was a fancy car.
Later on, success was awards.
In my startup, success was becoming a unicorn.
Today, success is owning my time.

I changed.
So did my definition of success.

You will change too.
That's okay.
But that ought to change your definition of success too.

Do not remain married to a version of you that doesn't exist anymore.

📕 Book I'm reading this week

I am STILL reading Letting Go, by Dr. David Hawkins, and I do not think I have taken more notes for any book lately, as much as I have for this one.
Will be making a video on it too - really awesome book. This might turn out to be a heavily gifted book.
Highly recommended.

I got a bunch of suggestions from all of you, on which book I could read next. Bought 6 of them already. Thanks so much :))

📸 My week, in pictures

This is a new edition where I share my week in pictures, for those who do not like to read as much as I write :))

After writing last week's newsletter on Wednesday, I had an event with Dell Technologies in the evening, in Bangalore. They launched a new range of products and I LOVED the curved desktop monitor. Very tempted to buy :))

On Friday, I had a session in Mumbai with NAREDCO (which is a real estate organization). Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani (founder of the famous Hiranandani Builders) gave a terrific speech, before sitting through mine and actually taking notes on his phone. He is 73 and was taking notes from a 43 yr old. What a man!

Came back with guess guess, what!! :))

Saturday was chill. Was sitting by our complex swimming pool while Uzma enjoyed herself :))

Sunday was a relaxed day. Uzma clicked this pic of mine, reading from my Kindle :))

Monday was shoot day - nothing remarkable :)

Tuesday - recorded 2 fun podcasts (will share once it comes) and went for dinner with a dear friend.

Today (Wednesday) - I am in Bangalore again for a session. The weather is stunning - it is 25 degrees! Wow!

Update: Just finished the session. It was with the VMWare Global Engineering Leadership team - super fun session. Lots of fun :)))

Have a lovely weekend and week ahead, all of lovelies :)))

Do you have the right tools? Sometimes, I get these cute DMs: "Ankur, your pics are looking awesome. Which phone do you use?" "Ankur, your videos are so sharp. Which camera do you use?" "Your voice sounds so clear and deep. Which mic do you use?" "You have been meditating for so long without fail, which app do you use?" Makes me smile :)) It's the equivalent of me asking someone, "Your book was wonderful. Which pen did you use?" A lot of us are stuck in the wait for the right tools. The right...

I had to ask! When I met my current wife, Ruchi, at the age of 19 while in college, she was way out of my league! I was the super geeky and serious kid.I had strong notions about what is right and wrong.I was too uptight.I would even call myself sad at that point.Too serious. And took myself too seriously. She, on the other hand, was the Shahrukh Khan in everybody’s life.Happy and going with the flow :))Forever smiling.Everyone adored her.Her happiness made everyone else happy around her. We...

If it's just hard work, why wouldn't you do it? Our colony had the Tennis Singles Finals this morning. I lost. While I feel slightly bad about it, I am happy about 2 things: 1/ I didn't play it safe. I played aggressively and took my chances. It's another thing that most chances did not work out :)) But I tried! 2/ I know exactly where I went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The distance between where I am and where I wish to be can be covered by hard work. You see, a lot of us are...
