QUITTING IS AN ART

We are often told that winners don't quit.
And that's such a lie.

And we encounter such lies on a daily basis.
Lies such as:
Winners say yes to everything.
Winners hustle!
Winners are constantly motivated.
Sleep is a waste of time for winners.

The truth is - winners quit. ALL THE TIME.
They quit unhealthy relationships.
They quit toxic jobs.
They quit interactions that force them to be vicious.
They quit conversations that are political.
They quit their decisions if they haven't worked despite best attempts.
They quit situations if they are not headed in the right direction anymore.
They quit any bias that has prevented them to explore new differing perspectives.
They quit their memories, if they do not serve them well.
They quit their stereotypes if all that the stereotypes have done is to box their thinking.

Winners QUIT.
All the time.

To know when to stop doing something, to know when to change course, to know when to reassess, reimagine, reconfigure, is the mark of a true winner.
To be married to your ideas, to your path, to your prejudices, to your memories - is to be stuck with a definition of yours that has stopped working.

The most dangerous people in the world are those that are unwilling to change.

BOOK I AM READING THIS WEEK

This week I am reading "Don't Believe Everything You Think" by Joseph Nguyen.
This might just be the book that everyone needs. It is a simple yet powerful book, which basically tells us that we are the stories we tell ourselves. Which also means our thoughts have power over us and it begs the question - are all our thoughts valid? Are our feelings real?

The book holds a lot of insights, nothing new, but deep reflections that allow you to understand yourself better.

Definitely pick it up!

RESPONSES TO LAST WEEK'S QUESTION

Last week I asked you:

You just lost $300. Which of these 2 options will you choose?
Option A: Spin a wheel with 50% chance of winning $300 and 50% chance of winning nothing.
Option B: Get $150 assured

Notice how as the age increases, the willingness to spin the wheel decreases. Suggesting a decrease in risk appetite.
"We have already lost $300 - why risk losing more" - this statement plays more in our head as we grow old.

HOWEVER, you will notice, that consistently, across ages, the winning option is to get the $150 assured. Which shows that humans, by and large, are looking to cut their losses. We do not deal well with losing. We tend to avoid them and to correct them.

My answer:
I would take the $150 assured as well :))

PICTURE OF THE WEEK

Was the DAV United Festival organized in Delhi, last weekend. What energy, what a crowd!

Also, we hosted the winners of a contest I had conducted several months back. We flew in the winners from their respective cities to Delhi, made them stay for a night and had lunch with them. It was so good to spend time with Jumana, Nargis, Monika, Saurabh, Rajeev, Raju, Kirti, Jagrati :))

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

You just WON $300.
Which of these 2 options will you choose?

I had to ask! When I met my current wife, Ruchi, at the age of 19 while in college, she was way out of my league! I was the super geeky and serious kid.I had strong notions about what is right and wrong.I was too uptight.I would even call myself sad at that point.Too serious. And took myself too seriously. She, on the other hand, was the Shahrukh Khan in everybody’s life.Happy and going with the flow :))Forever smiling.Everyone adored her.Her happiness made everyone else happy around her. We...

If it's just hard work, why wouldn't you do it? Our colony had the Tennis Singles Finals this morning. I lost. While I feel slightly bad about it, I am happy about 2 things: 1/ I didn't play it safe. I played aggressively and took my chances. It's another thing that most chances did not work out :)) But I tried! 2/ I know exactly where I went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The distance between where I am and where I wish to be can be covered by hard work. You see, a lot of us are...

5 things I believed to be true when I was a kid; only to realize they are not! Money is finite. If one becomes rich, someone else becomes poor. I was convinced that there was only a limited amount of money in the world. And that the rich make money by taking it from someone else. Wealth is only distributed. Today, I know wealth can be created. By adding value. I shared an example of Maggi in my book, Make Epic Money. A pack of Maggi costs 10/20 rupees. But open it, cook it, add some veggies...
