BOOK I AM READING THIS WEEK

This week I started reading "Mind without Fear" by Rajat Gupta.

Rajat Gupta is one of the most prolific Indian-origin professionals, who went on to become the global head of McKinsey and created an enviable reputation for himself, before all came crashing down as he was convicted of Insider Trading and sentenced to 2 years in prison.

As crazy as it sounds, he chose not to defend himself during the trial.

Upon his release, this book is his account of what happened and his learning from it.
I found the book fascinating and full of lessons one can learn from his experience.

Rajat was one of the founding members of ISB and as an alum he always occupied a soft corner in my heart. It was really hard to imagine someone like him committing the crime he was accused of. The book pacifies my heart a bit, where Rajat admits how what he did was a mistake but not a crime.

Wonderful read, if you are looking for a non-fiction book with the joys of a fictional thriller.

As my book DO EPIC SHIT touched sales of 120,000+ I have launched a pan-India tour, where I will be giving away 10,000+ signed copies of my book.

You can book the tickets here.

RESPONSES TO LAST WEEK'S QUESTION

Last week I asked you:

Would you want to know your future, assuming you cannot change it?

  1. Yes
  2. No

Here are the responses:

Observations:
1. Irrespective of age, MOST people do not want to know their future, if they cannot change it.
2. The big reason was "it spoils the fun/curiosity/excitement."

Now, go to this week's question, for the 2nd part :)

I had to ask! When I met my current wife, Ruchi, at the age of 19 while in college, she was way out of my league! I was the super geeky and serious kid.I had strong notions about what is right and wrong.I was too uptight.I would even call myself sad at that point.Too serious. And took myself too seriously. She, on the other hand, was the Shahrukh Khan in everybody’s life.Happy and going with the flow :))Forever smiling.Everyone adored her.Her happiness made everyone else happy around her. We...

If it's just hard work, why wouldn't you do it? Our colony had the Tennis Singles Finals this morning. I lost. While I feel slightly bad about it, I am happy about 2 things: 1/ I didn't play it safe. I played aggressively and took my chances. It's another thing that most chances did not work out :)) But I tried! 2/ I know exactly where I went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The distance between where I am and where I wish to be can be covered by hard work. You see, a lot of us are...

5 things I believed to be true when I was a kid; only to realize they are not! Money is finite. If one becomes rich, someone else becomes poor. I was convinced that there was only a limited amount of money in the world. And that the rich make money by taking it from someone else. Wealth is only distributed. Today, I know wealth can be created. By adding value. I shared an example of Maggi in my book, Make Epic Money. A pack of Maggi costs 10/20 rupees. But open it, cook it, add some veggies...
