THEY JOY OF TOGETHERNESS

wariCrew is the team that brings all the content that we share. to all of you.
63 pieces of unique content, across 7 platforms, every week.
We are spread across the country - Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Jodhpur, Kanpur. And work from home.
So we have an offsite every quarter, to spend 4-5 days together, bond over our similarities, discover our uniqueness and realize the power of a team.

This quarter we went to Dharamshala (see pic below).
4 wonderful days, that reminds me of one of the most powerful lessons in my life.

The purest joy of life is to be able to discover your true self, and share it with those who are discovering theirs.

There are 3 parts to this lesson.

Part 1:
Be able to discover our true self

This is hard, it takes time, but is necessary.
We all are born alone.
Yet we spend our entire life dependent on others, as if we do not have our own identity.
We imitate our parents to begin with, and then when it's time to search within, we begin imitating social orders.
We imitate rich people, successful people, motivational people, and aspirational figures.
We want to be them, act like them, look like them, behave like them.
Without realizing that most of the successful folks are so because they are not imitating anyone.
They are being themselves.
So can we.
So should we.

Part 2:
Share it with others

It is a tragedy to have something precious to share and not share it.
To have the confidence to share, comes from a deep sense of comfort with who you are and where you are in life.
It is not the generous ones who share.
It is the most confident ones who share.
Because they know what they are sharing is something they can achieve again, gain again, produce again.
Whether it is money, it is knowledge, it is help, it is encouragement, it is knowledge.

Part 3:
Those who are discovering theirs

To be able to share your world with those who are comfortable and at peace with their own, is pure bliss.
For me, most of life is about finding such people, once you have found yourself.
And what I have learnt is that once you have found yourself, discovered yourself, and known yourself, you begin to attract those who are on the same journey.

We are 11 people in the wariCrew right now - all distinct from one another.
Different worldviews, different cultures, different experiences in life.
Everyone is still quite young.
But all are on this journey to discover themselves.
None of them are settled, or consider themselves to be, or want to settle.
They wish to explore, to understand the world and thus their own place in it.

I have travelled that journey. I know what it is to be a 20-year-old explorer.
I adore such explorers. Perhaps attract them as well.
And that's why this team works.

Not because we are the smartest ones as individuals, or come from the best colleges or are the most hardworking.
We work, because each one of us as an individual, is comfortable in their own skin, and is willing to share what we know and are keen to know, with those who are on a similar path.

As I write this newsletter overlooking the gorgeous mountains of Bir (Himachal Pradesh), I hope that you embark on this rewarding journey.
That of figuring who you are.
And sharing it with those who are doing the same for their life.

I hope you find your own crew - as we have found ours :))

BOOK I AM READING THIS WEEK

Started reading Pandeymonium
This is the story of Piyush Pandey, inarguably one of the worlds best known advertising professionals. He is credited with making some timeless advertising campaigns - Fevicol, Bajaj, Titan, Cadbury, to name a few. The book wonderfully chronicles his journey and leaves the reader with some brilliant takeaways around storytelling.
I would highly recommend the book to anyone who wishes to become a storyteller or communicator. Piyush shares his entire life with brilliance.

Also, you can buy an original copy of DO EPIC SHIT here.

QUOTES TO SHARE

RESPONSES TO LAST WEEK'S QUESTION

Last week I asked you:

What type of company would you want to work at?

  1. Small company (less than 50 people)
  2. Mid-sized company (50-200 people)
  3. Large company (200-1000 people)
  4. Really large company (1000+ people)

Here are the responses:

  • People, irrespective of age, either want to work in a company of less than 200 people or work for really large companies (greater than 1000 people).
  • It is interesting to see that the desire to work for a small company is high very early and then quite late in life. In the late 20s and 30s people would much rather work for larger companies.

My response?
After having worked for really large companies and mid-sized companies, I think I appreciate small companies a lot more. And would want to work there.

There are 3 kinds of vacations 1) Where you do things in excess that you have done back at home as well. Party, sleep, chill, dance, eat. I call them escapes. Not vacations. They are escapes from your current life. Most vacations lie in this category. 2) Where you do things that you could have ONLY done where you have gone. Sightseeing, top restaurants, top experiences. These vacations are memories. They are not a blur. They are a moment. Something you will remember and cherish for a while....
