It took 13 years...

13 years in the making

I registered a company in 2011.
Teaching is something that I had loved all through the years and I knew that someday, I would end up doing it as a daily affair.
I just didn't know when.

I started creating content online in 2017.
Stepped down as the CEO of my startup in 2019; figuring out what to do next.
March 2020 happened - all of us were locked up in our houses.
And it was during this period that I started teaching online.

My first online session had 35 students.
Last week, WebVeda, the company I registered in 2011, touched 400,000 enrolled students.
Generating ~50Cr of revenue so far.
While offering self-paced, comprehensive, affordable, and 100% refundable courses to students who wish to learn.

An idea 13 years in the making.

Do not confuse starting slow as starting small.

Book I am reading this week

Finished reading "The Courage to be Happy".
Just as hard-hitting as the first one in the Courage series. But not recommended if you haven't read the first one yet - "The Courage to be Disliked".
I feel reading philosophy is the most powerful way of figuring out life.

My latest book, Make Epic Money, has sold 1,15,000+ copies in India with a 4.4+ rating.
It is the simplest book I know on personal finance, while I am extremely biased when I say this :))
You can buy it in Hindi, English, Marathi, Audio, and Kindle here.

Here is an alphabetical list of all books I have shared in this newsletter so far.

Question of the week

How do you feel about this year's India budget?

  • Not good
  • Good
  • Indifferent
  • Haven't tracked; don't care

(and see the results of others, too)

Results of last week's question

Most people do not actively track the budget - but it becomes more active as we age. Maybe it's because the decisions affect us a lot more at a later age, when our incomes hit the tax thresholds, lol!
My response
I track it somewhat once it's done. Not actively for sure :)

3-2-1

3 pics from last week

Had a lovely book event last week in Chennai, at the Ramanujan Intellion Park by Tata Realty.
With the Tata Realty team here.

It is such a surreal feeling to have all your 3 books on the best-selling charts, nearly 3 years after the launch of the first one :)

Just finished an awesome session at the Honeywell Annual Tech Summit in Bangalore. Writing this newsletter from the airport, waiting to board my flight :))

2 quotes I wish to share

Attach yourself to your growth. Not to your start.

If we are willing to admit faults, that is one less fault to admit!

1 new thing I learnt this week

If the average IQ of every country were to be ranked, South Korea would be at the top with a score of 107.5, followed by China (106.9), followed by (surprise, surprise) Iran with a score of 106.8.
India is ranked #22 with an average IQ score of 99.3.
Wow! Had no idea.

Achieving mental freedom A lot of people struggle with mental peace. Their mind is always active, overthinking, anxious, and overworking. It rarely settles. We want peace. But our mind craves activity. How does one handle this? An effective way, in my experience of achieving mental freedom and peace, is to truly know who you are. We often do not know who we are. We see ourselves through the eyes of others. Our image of who we are is determined by what people say about us. Or how people have...

Your emotions are not good or bad If fear can motivate you without paralysing you, be fearful. If doubt can refine your ideas without stopping you, be doubtful. If anxiety can sharpen your focus without overwhelming you, be anxious. If sadness can deepen your empathy without consuming you, be sad. Emotions are not negative or positive. Our actions stemming from those emotions are.(Share on X) Book I am reading this week Finished reading Four Thousand Weeks (Time Management for Mortals) by...

How you age is how your parents age I turned 44 last week. I am not into celebrating birthdays, so most years, it is a simple and quiet affair with family. As was this year. We went for a nice high-tea affair: Ruchi, the kids, Ma, Papa, my sister, and brother-in-law. As I was dropping Ma and Papa back home, my mom wished me happy birthday again and then asked a cute question."Kitne saal ka ho gaya hai tu?" (How old are you now?)"44," I replied. I think that hit her. That morning, Ma sent a...
