Struggling to build a routine?

Published about 2 months ago • 3 min read

Sahil Bloom in the house

If you do not know Sahil, you are missing out on someone really valuable.
He is a content creator - but more than that, he is one of the most disciplined individuals out there.
When it comes to health (he is fit af), wealth (his companies make $10M annual revenue), or relationships (he married his college sweetheart and has a lovely son now) - he is the epitome of routine and discipline.

I got in touch with Sahil 3 years back when he actively started creating content on Twitter.
Today, he vlogs on YouTube, posts on Instagram, writes a newsletter, and is writing a book too.

Sahil is an American but he has Indian roots (his mom is Indian).
And he is coming to India!

I am hosting him in Delhi on Tuesday, the 12th of March at the awesome Bharat Mandapam at 7 pm.

If you are in Delhi, or can make it to Delhi - I think you will absolutely love our chat!

We will speak about routine and discipline when it comes to health, wealth, and relationships.
And then click selfies and have 1:1 conversations with everyone.

The tickets are nominally priced (Rs. 97 onwards) but if you are a student and can't afford this, reply to this email and I will sponsor you.

See you all there...

Book I am reading this week

Still reading "What I Learned About Investing from Darwin" by Pulak Prasad.
It is an incredibly insightful and joyful read about investing. I love such books which connect two seemingly disconnected fields and try to find patterns.
Highly recommended for the evolved readers around investing.

My new book,
MAKE EPIC MONEY, is my 3rd consecutive bestseller. Thanks to all of you - every day, I am getting messages such as these and I am so delighted!

Here is a list of all the books I have shared in this newsletter so far (alphabetical order)

Results of last week's survey

Who are you scared of more?
Even if you are not really "scared" of them, who are you slightly more scared of :))

  • I am a male; scared of father
  • I am a male; scared of mother
  • I am a female; scared of father
  • I am a female; scared of mother

Here are the results:

Observations:

  • I knew that men will be more scared of their fathers than women, but I didn't expect this stark difference! Men are wayyyy more scared of their fathers than women! Wow!
What's fascinating is that the fear towards their fathers decreases with age for BOTH men and women. Isn't that strange? We begin to fear our mothers more. I wonder why, haha.
  • Around their 30s, women are more scared of their mothers than they are of their fathers. And then that stays for life.

My answer:
I am scared of my mother more than my father - and that's changed over the years. Earlier it was my father :)

Quotes to share

There are two ways to live life.
One is to see everyone's success with suspicion.
One is to see everyone's success with inspiration.

I am still learning to love the parts of myself that no one claps for.

Curiosity has created more opportunities than hard work ever will.

📸 My week, in pictures

In this section, I share my week in pictures, for those who do not like to read as much as I write :))
I do so not to show how cool a life I live, but instead to show you what are the highlights of every day. As you will see over time, my days are mostly in repeat mode - the same things, but different experiences from them.

Watercolour painting from last week's class :))

Spoke at TechSparks Mumbai, about my latest book - Make Epic Money.

My favourite place to read in our home :))

Went to Red Fort this Sunday for the Biennale. It was quite nice - collection of art, design, and architecture from across the country.

Signed a bunch of copies at T3, Delhi Airport.

Met my roommate, Sameer, from Michigan State University in Hyderabad yesterday. He has moved from the US recently.

Spoke at ISB Hyderabad - felt like home again :))

That's it for the week in pictures. Have a lovely weekend and week ahead, all of you lovelies :)))

Question of the week

Do you believe in God?

  • Yes, I do
  • No, I do not
  • I am confused/not sure
  • I believe in a higher power, maybe not God

(and see the results of others, too)

Do you have the right tools? Sometimes, I get these cute DMs: "Ankur, your pics are looking awesome. Which phone do you use?" "Ankur, your videos are so sharp. Which camera do you use?" "Your voice sounds so clear and deep. Which mic do you use?" "You have been meditating for so long without fail, which app do you use?" Makes me smile :)) It's the equivalent of me asking someone, "Your book was wonderful. Which pen did you use?" A lot of us are stuck in the wait for the right tools. The right...

I had to ask! When I met my current wife, Ruchi, at the age of 19 while in college, she was way out of my league! I was the super geeky and serious kid.I had strong notions about what is right and wrong.I was too uptight.I would even call myself sad at that point.Too serious. And took myself too seriously. She, on the other hand, was the Shahrukh Khan in everybody’s life.Happy and going with the flow :))Forever smiling.Everyone adored her.Her happiness made everyone else happy around her. We...

If it's just hard work, why wouldn't you do it? Our colony had the Tennis Singles Finals this morning. I lost. While I feel slightly bad about it, I am happy about 2 things: 1/ I didn't play it safe. I played aggressively and took my chances. It's another thing that most chances did not work out :)) But I tried! 2/ I know exactly where I went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The distance between where I am and where I wish to be can be covered by hard work. You see, a lot of us are...
